This holiday season, we’re celebrating with a beautiful variety of offerings representative of the special ways this time of year is marked in Japan. Many Japanese Holiday season traditions are rooted in interpretations of Western customs and celebrate the beauty of an evolving culture.
In Japan, families and friends gather to enjoy a delicate snow white and ruby red strawberry shortcake during the Christmas season. This tradition originated after the war as a way of adopting some interpretations of Western traditions around the Holidays. This special cake, which celebrates strawberries when they are in peak season in Japan and has a semi-sweet delicate sponge cake, has been refined to reflect the Japanese palate.
We are proud to have created an interpretation of this Strawberry Shortcake in a rich, creamy and balanced chocolate bar in honor of our memories of home around the Holidays.
